# My new Rubber Plant keeps getting tiny white spots on one leaf. It’s…

_Geplaatst door 9thFloorGreenHouse op 2025-06-22_

My new Rubber Plant keeps getting tiny white spots on one leaf. It’s along the edge of the smallest leaf. It’s also the oldest leaf. I can wipe it away mostly but it comes back. I don’t see anything on the back of the leaf.

When I brought it home it was covered in dust but I didn’t see anything buggy when I cleaned it or since. Just these white spots.

Is that normal or do I have a problem?

I found this answer. I haven’t misted my plant. Is it from “plant respiration”? Is that a thing?

Btw if you don’t like it I use plant wipes to get rid of most of it but it doesn’t hurt them I found mine on amazon

It’s from excess salt/mineral buildup. It’s common and doesn’t hurt your plant. Think of them like pores for your plant. You could try using filtered water or flushing the excess minerals out with filtered water or hydrogen peroxide the next time it’s time to water it.

That’s what I was hoping! Thanks

Perfectly normal for Rubber Plants! Both my Burgundy \& Tineke have those little white spots. For cleaning the leaves I've found that using 1 part lemon juice and 1 part water helps remove some of the hard water residue and dust buildup
