# My purple inch plant has gotten really “sad” looking ever since…

_Pubblicato da Biri il 2024-04-02_

My purple inch plant has gotten really “sad” looking ever since trimming it from its original length, and I’m not too sure why. The leaves are no longer vibrantly colored, and they’re getting wavy/withering kind of. It’s been about four weeks since I pruned it, changed the soil, and added some stems I was propagating to make the plant look more full, and there’s been new leaf growth (see photo) but the branches are super thin and just really fragile. The two images I’ve added are the current day plant (with the short branches) and how it was a month ago.

He’s so pretty and he might be invested with pests or it could just be a negative effect of being trimmed or the scissors that you used could have transmitted something to the plant

Changed the soil? Looks like it was also moved? It may be in a bit of shock

It wasn’t moved! I had just placed it on top of my desk for picture taking purposes. But yes, changed the soil and pruned it a lot

It might be because so many leaves were removed. It’s usually recommended to prune no more than 1/3 of leaves or roots at a time.

i definitely agree with shock. could also be lack of sunlight but best to leave her be for some time so she can adjust to her new soil and mates

Is there anything I can do or should I just wave the plant alone and hopefully it’ll go back to normal?

I think it just needs time to root, should be fine. I like to stick my tradescantia cuttings in water for a few weeks before putting them in soil so I know that they are growing roots. I've noticed that they will sometimes continue to put out new growth with little to no root system
