!!!HELP!!!  
Update: have learned this is “coccidae” (soft scale)

This is my ming aralia, my baby for better words lol i was admiring it this morning when i noticed the pot was kinda sticky.. i thought weird so I started looking through the leaves and branches and found what look like SLUGS?!? The plant is still THRIVING, like lots of new growth, are the slugs (if thats what they are) harmful ?  
P.S. - the soil has a smidge of whiteish mold looking stuff on the top?

Those look like a species of scale, which is a type of pest, I’m not sure on how to treat them exactly so it’s best to look it up
