# Hi everyone! Quick question. I have my monstera deliciosa developing…

Hi everyone! Quick question. I have my monstera deliciosa developing a new leaf. I got this plant back in February from a top cutting (I believe) that my wife grabbed. It was water propagated and then planted sometime in mid to late March. My concern is that with the new leaf coming in it may be a whole leaf and not a fenestrated one. I have it about 2-3 feet from a South facing window with a slight overhang and just added a grow light bulb over it that we turn on when using the space in the evening. So I presumed it was getting enough light but now I’m not sure. Is this whole leaf occurring because of low light or because it he plant itself is still in a juvenile stage?

I have the same concern- I would be interested to see what people say

It could be both. They fenestrate to allow light to get to all parts of the plant. Since it’s still young and small, that “need” is not there yet. It looks healthy, so just keep taking good care of her and she’ll gift you big, beautiful, fenestrated leaves in no time!

I would say its not really anything to worry about, theres no leaves under it needing light so the fenestration isn’t needed also the plant is still taking in light since theres only a few shoots once there is more the plant will depend less on light from the few shoots you and produce holes, keep an eye out for overly long shoots stretching out or leaning to window or grow light this means its needing more light
