# Two questions this is what was once very stringy Cebu blue Pothos I…

_Gepostet von ShyLee am 2025-07-23_

Two questions this is what was once very stringy Cebu blue Pothos I think it got a draft and or didn’t water enough anyways I was told to cut all the stems and I did
2 propagation variations one in water and one in soil with some hormones on the roots. This is what they both look like. I’m wondering if the propagation in the water should be planted in soil yet? or if I should wait.. I’m noticing little leaves though The other picture is of the stems of the same plant that I dipped in liquid root stimulator, and then put it in regular potting soil but I’m not seeing any growth and I’m wondering if I should take them out and put them in water.

i think is best to just wait for them to get better. continuously moving them normally will not do them any good

I would leave the ones in water to get longer personally. I wait until my prop tubes are full of little noodles.

If you put them into soil like that they may struggle and go down hill.

The ones in soil tend to take a little longer in my experience if they are in ambient temps. Try putting a bag or dome on top to let them get a little humid. That should help them along, and once you see some action, then you can remove it.

Ok great advice I was just thinking it’s summer time and I’m in Sask in Canada, where it gets cold really cold and so there was a part of me that was feeling rushed, but I can just leave them and then like you said, and then that way they have a good root system when I do plant them. Should I change the water? I haven’t changed the water in a long time.

I only change water when the water looks cloudy. If some water evaporates, I add more to give more oxygen. The hormones they release in the water actually helps them grow.

Ok :) 👍

Exactly the same for me with the water! Unless it looks real yuck, I just leave it and let them do their thing! Top them off if they need it. Water propping is the easiest in my opinion!

Those little guys will start growing pretty fast. Mine usually take a while to get to where you’re at now and then they usually start going pretty quickly from there.

I’d let the ones in water grow longer roots and secondary roots before planting. Here is mine in water as my sister took a cutting from hers and gave me. Still in water because I want the secondary roots to grow. I’ve had them in water for a month now.

Beautiful!! Thank you
What do you use mean by secondary roots ?

#### LadyTenorJD antwortete am 2025-07-23

You’ll see roots growing out from the roots as opposed to a node on the plant itself. Those are secondary roots. 👍🏽👍🏽
