# Hello, this is my Tradescantia fluminensis 'Albovittata' aka…

Hello, this is my Tradescantia fluminensis 'Albovittata' aka wandering dude. The picture with the pink sleeves on the plants was a picture of her at the store, leaves sturdy and lively. After I brought her home, I’ve been watering once a week all the way through as the app says. She started becoming droopy and so I repotted thinking that maybe she needs space. (The picture at night is how she looked after that. I also gave her chop sticks to prop herself up on so her roots didn’t pull out of the soft soil via gravity). The other two pictures are today. My boyfriend knocked her over but I don’t think that’s the culprit as to why she’s looking so sad. I keep pruning off her browning leaves but now she’s getting spots on her stem. I have misted her once as directed by the app. I’m thinking underwatering? The app diagnostics says overwatering. HELP. I’ve never had a plant before and don’t know what I’m doing

Did you check for root rot?

If the roots are brown/black and mushy they need to be cut off

I didn’t see any when I repotted

Does the pot it’s in have a drainage hole?

A large one at the bottom, just a typical clay pot. And I have it lifted on rocks so it dries from the bottom. Could that be a problem?

I don’t think so, it’s good for it to dry out in between waterings and make sure the soil isn’t still damp when you water

Not enough sun maybe

It seems like several actions stacking could have caused the current condition of the plant:
\- It got stressed from moving
\- It probably got overwatered. That made it limp and caused leaves to wither.
\- it got repotted causing additional stress and increased excess water on the roots due to more soil holding water in a bigger pot. This made overwatering worse.

I recommend only watering when the soil is dry regardless of Planta notifications. This means checking with a bamboo skewer before watering that there is little or no moisture in the soil. Check again 3 days later if the soil is still wet. These plants hold a lot of moisture in their stems. So, they don’t need water to often compare to the typical foliage plant. 🍀🪴
