# HELP idk what im doing wrong with my syngonium albo. Almost all of…

_Posted by Te on 2024-10-07_

HELP idk what im doing wrong with my syngonium albo. Almost all of its leaves are starting to yellow, i had it in a very airy soil, mostly orchid bark and perlite. Wondering if maybe she’s drying out too fast, and staying dry to long? I just changed the soil and did peat moss, orchid bark and perlite will this help prevent the leafs from dying off any further? I absolutely love this plant. I can’t see it go down!

How often were you watering with the orchard bark mix?Have you triple checked for any pests? Peat moss can be problematic with drainage

I water about every 4-5 days with the bark, or when I notice she was getting dry, my house is stays pretty warm and stays between 50-60% humidity range. I have a humidifier too just in case. No pests from what I can tell, I just repotted her a few hours ago into the peat moss mix.

I think the new soil will help quite a bit you’re just gonna need to water less frequently. I’d give it some time in the new soil since it might go through some transplant shock. I’d recommend small waterings for the next two weeks or so.

Personally I let my syngoniums dry out more than most websites recommend. I have mine in the sun gro cacti mix which is basically the mix you planted into. I heavily water and flush the soil every 7-9 days or so. I don’t have a humidifier but I mist all the time

This variety needs bright light and regular fertilizer to remove that yellow. Mine thrive in early morning sun and bright shade outside. That’s not a yellowing from too little water. I fertilize every 2 weeks with 50% diluted Miracle Gro blue fertilizer.

I water every 2-3 days since mine are large, still outside and the temperatures are still in the high 80s. Let the soil almost dry completely (slightly limp leaves) before watering.

Also, repotting can cause more leaves to drop from the stress.

I do fertilize about every 3 weeks or so with a fertilizer called “bless your soul” I got from Amazon. It was in an orchid bark and perlite mix only. I added the peat moss in the mix to help retain some of the moisture. I typically water every 5-7 days. On the 3rd or 4th day she would be completely dry. Leaving it dry for a few days. I checked the roots and there was no signs of root rot, I also checked for a sign of pests and nothing! She is also in an east facing window that gets bright light for a good portion of the day!
