Hey guys, hope yall are having a wonderful day! I was just wondering if someone could help this plant noobie figure out what went wrong with wrong with my global green pothos. I took multiple cuttings from the same vine and put them in water. Kept some in the water and put some in soil. The ones in water are fine. Not growing lot with the roots but the leaves look gorgeous and healthy but the ones in soil look like she’s struggling. One leaf can’t support its weight, others have bits missing, there are plenty of brown spots. I don’t know what I’m looking for when it comes to pests or root issues. I took the cuttings out of soil and put it back in water to see if she can pull it off and survive.

For reference, I have a basil, golden pothos, marble queen pothos, pearls \& jade pothos, and the global green. All of them are in terracotta pots on the windowsill of an east facing window.

I have attached pictures below, can yall see anything I’m missing? Any advice? Thanks!

They don’t look that bad. The colors are good. The cuttings are adjusting to the soil. Spots can develop during the process. Edges tear if the leaf was too dry while unfurling. It’s normal for soil propagation. Water propagation is easier on the plant. It always has water. So, no dry leaves.

Tiny hairs/roots develop on the roots to help pull water from the soil. Removing the soil rips off those tiny hairs. It adds additional stress on the plant. It’s ok to move them to water. Clear all the soil to avoid bacteria. Place in soil when the roots are longer. You can still get the same issues as the cutting adjusts. Consider the first leaf a sacrificial leaf. 🍀🪴

I think you might want to leave them in water a little longer (at least a few weeks/month) to get more roots growing on before they can get survive in the soil.
