Trying to help my daughter with some plants she has at work. Is this calcium deposits or a type of mold? She says the water is hard there. She has already thrown one bamboo stalk out. Will need to zoom in a bit on photos. Thanks for any thoughts!!

Her other plants look great. Only two that sit in water have issues

Try bottled water

Make it distilled not spring water.
