What’s happening to my sunflower ‘velvet queen’ ?

It might be over fertilized

When I grew sunflowers in containers they also got crispy tips. As Melody said, it could be over fertilization, but it might not matter too much-- mine carried on and bloomed anyway, and a few crispy tips didn't seem to make much of a difference.
