# I got this orchid not too long ago, it is my first orchid and I’m not…

_Geplaatst door Hannah op 2024-04-12_

I got this orchid not too long ago, it is my first orchid and I’m not sure what’s wrong here. Is the light too bright for the flowers? But there’s also these holes on the leaves. I’m just not sure what’s happening. It is just warming up outside here and it’s been pretty dry in my house too so I don’t know how that affects it. Any ideas or advice would be appreciated!

As for the leaves: it could be a pest issue, so to get rid of it, soak a cotton swab in 70 percent isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol and dab scale, mealybugs, mites and aphids off orchids if you see any bugs… if not, try cleaning your whole orchid with desecticydal soap and water together. It could also be getting too much sun.

How much light does it get. Orchids need bright indirect light, and any more will burn them. As for the flowers, they will eventually die, and the browning is completely normal.
