# Philodendron is looking good but the new leaves on the bottom are…

Philodendron is looking good but the new leaves on the bottom are coming in yellow and mushy. Is this normal??? It’s weird because the lighter green leaf in the middle is brand new since I got the plant. Help!

The leaves that are turning yellow are the oldest leaves. Your new leaf coming up from the middle is actually the new leaf. It is pretty normal for plants to yellow and die off their oldest growth. It is when the big upper leaves and new growth are yellowing that it is a problem.
