# Recently purchased a Chinese money plant, and have noticed the leaves…

_Posted by Cat Herder on 2026-10-21_

Recently purchased a Chinese money plant, and have noticed the leaves have yellow spots. Is that indicative of anything?? The leaves were like that when I got it but I feel like it’s getting worse, but I could also just be imagining it. The newer leaves at the top are fine.

She looks like she either has been too wet lately, or was too wet for a while and is still dealing with it. If you repot her recently, give her a bit. That might just be shock and she decided purging a few leaves was how she wants to survive that. If she has not been repot and she has been like this since you took her home: I would repot into dry soil and let her sit for a day or two before watering. Alternatively, you can wait and give it more time. Whether it is shock or watering, once a leaf starts yellowing that significantly, it is usually coded to die atp. You could just wait and see if those leaves were the casualties of all of the stress of her finding a new home. It could just stop at those leaves. But if it starts taking out more than the ones that weere there when you got it, def evaluate hydration 🫡

Thank you! I only got her a week ago, and the soil seems pretty moist still. She has pups growing and I have little idea what I’m doing, so I think I’ll give her some time before watering and will repot if she keeps looking sad.
