I use the yellow sticky traps to get the flying adults, change the soil, and used beneficial insects. I can’t use neem inside due to allergies. Also I watered a lot less and gnats are no longer a problem (most of the time). Good luck!

I also use the yellow sticky traps and added the plug in blue light traps that attract the gnats at night to the light and they get stuck to the sticky screen.

Beneficial nematodes with every watering.

Yes, mosquito bit tea is the most effective method for complete gnat removal

I’ve used beneficial nematodes (powder that you mix with water) and they worked well too

Yup, same kind that I use from Natures Good Guys 👍🏽

We are struggling with gnats too!! I’ve got the blue light traps, the sticky traps, bottom watering and I use neem. They are driving us crazy this year.

Righttt!!! I’ve done all that too and still have them. So annoying. Good luck to you

Isolation followed by Neem oil cleanings/ 3% on the roots when bringing in anything new or repotting, alternating between mosquito bit tea and beneficials for the larvae and yellow traps for the adults in my established collection.

I use a fine mesh jewelry bag to place the mosquito bits in and pour near boiling water over it and allow it to steep until it cools down. Then I pour it all into a watering container and fill up with water. Just one watering kills the eggs and larvae living in the soil. This is what the beneficial nematodes eats; gnats and anything else like mosquitos, etc.

When I lived in Texas, I fought ticks, fleas, chiggers, aphids, etc. cedar oil application over every square inch of the yard, house, deck, fence, compost, etc will supplement your soil with an environment beneficial for the good nematodes to thrive. cedar oil suffocates any insect with a soft body covered in holes. Insects breathe through these holes and will close them off to cedar oil because it irritates them. I used to spray cedar oil mixed with water straight from the solution mixer gun to keep chiggers off of me and it works.

My philosophy is take advantage of companion planting principles, observe the moon’s phases as it does affect the water in everything, including menstruation hence full moon’s triggering the monthly cycle, and create healthy environments like adding beneficial nematodes to your yard and plant’s soil.

I also use the microbiolift. It's like 1-2 drops per gallon of water. They settle, so i put some water in, then drops, then fill rest of pitcher and it stirs it around. Use it in every watering.

I’m interested. What is the microbiolift? Does it kill the bad bugs but support the beneficials?

#### Wolfen 🐺 ha risposto il 2025-05-06

It is basically a liquid version of Mosquito bits/dunks. For ponds. Using Bti bacterium

#### Jackye ha risposto il 2025-05-06

I will check that out! Hopefully there won’t be any issues shipping to Alaska.

I get it from chewy. It's for koi ponds. You might check your local pet store, they may carry it or be able to order it. Alba posted a pic of one of the bottles above. I bought a squeeze dropper bottle to put mine in. To make it easier to disperse.

Thank you for the info! I had to cancel my chewys account when I moved to Alaska because they don’t ship here. I can check the local Petco.
