# Unsure what’s going on with my African Violet. I’ve notice some of…

_Opslået af Cass den 2025-03-02_

Unsure what’s going on with my African Violet. I’ve notice some of her leaves are partially brown in places. She is right in a window but it’s winter and often cloudy where I am right now. I always bottom water and she seems healthy otherwise. I thought maybe overwatering could be causing it but I’m not sure. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

When you water it do you let water touch the leaves? African violets have sensitive hairs which don't like to be touched by water, so next time maybe just water the soil part. Hope this helps!

I know they don’t like the water above soil so I’ve been exclusively bottom watering. Maybe she was splashed by something else? Are these spots normal for getting the leaves wet?

It could be edema which is caused by overwatering. Also, bottom watering is great for African violets but sometimes you should flush the water through from the top to clean out any salts that may be accumulating.
