# Hey guys! My Birkin keeps making me feel like a terrible plant mom!…

Hey guys! My Birkin keeps making me feel like a terrible plant mom!

She started to get some white spots on some leaves, and now, one of her leaves is starting to get yellow. I wonder if it’s root rot, but she’s getting 2 new leaves which I don’t know what it means: is she healthy or not?

Think the internet has everyone talking about root rot but it’s not usually the case unless you know the plant is not drying out properly.  
Are you using tap water? Do you use a fertilizer? What kind?

If you’ve never seen the roots you could always check them for a mesh cage or pod as well.

I checked the roots and most of them were brown and mushy, tearing off really easily 😖 I cleaned her roots (leaving the healthy ones) and repotted her, hopefully she’ll be okay!

That spot looks like rot so I would pull it out and check the roots. It’s pretty easy to determine whether or not it’s root rot — you just need to get eyes on the roots 😊

Thank you! It was root rot :( I did clean all the roots that weren’t good anymore and she had some healthy roots left, so hopefully she’ll feel better soon!
