# So, I got my first string of pearls less than two months ago and it…

So, I got my first string of pearls less than two months ago and it was thriving before a lot of the pearls first turned dark green and then withered away.
I got a second one that was in poorer shape than the first, and it too has started doing the same thing.
I initially thought I might have overwatered it, so I took special care to barely water the second one.
How half the pearls are perfectly fine, and half turned dark green and are either shriveled or rotting.

I have no clue as to why this happened in succession, please help me identify the cause and treat my rowley

PS: in this picture, I plucked out the shriveled strings

Had this happen to me. I attributed it to the soil not draining enough. Had way too much soil that stayed wet way too long

Ohh, thank you!

OK, first of all don’t get disappointed because stronger pearls are super hard. They’re just like a succulent so lots and lots and lots and lots of light. Get a good soil that has plenty of drainage. Make sure it’s in a pot with drainage as well. Only water when bone dry. And most of all pray it will survive! 😂

Eep. Fingers crossed 🫢. I don’t wanna add rowley to my plant graveyard just yet

How often are you watering it?

#### erised replied on 2024-09-04

Since I got it last month, this is the first time I’ve fully wet the pot ( the water drips out the drainage).
Earlier, I used to pour about half an ounce of water around every ten days

Ok you might have been overwatering it bc succulents usually like water around once a month
