Hello, I could use some help with my fiddle leaf fig(FLF) I am not great at keeping plants but recently got this one and some of its leafs don’t look very great so any advice on how to help it leaves and how to take care of it would be very helpful and appreciated. I have it right in front of a window and rotate it every 3 days

Did you recently repot it after getting it? Were the leaves unblemished before you got it? The problem could be the process of repotting and too big of a pot if the answer is yes to both questions.

Additionally, ficus plants hate being moved. Drop leaves is the result. It usually stops dropping leaves after awhile.

I didn’t repot it, and the leafs were like that when I bought it. 2 leaves fell in the process of buying it and moving it home tho

You have to take a wait and see attitude with ficus trees. This one was already unhappy with the previous owner/location/care. 😁Moving it will add to its stress. They show stress by dropping some or all of its leaves. Nerve wracking! I can’t own ficus trees. I’m not mentally prepared for the drama. 🎭

I recommend leaving it be. Don’t turn it. Add a grow light if one side is not getting enough light. You might need a grow light in winter anyway. Reduce or stop fertilizing in winter when growth slows. Always check the soil has dried downward before watering. Don’t follow a strict watering schedule to avoid overwatering.

You can water with distilled, filtered or rain water to avoid putting hard water and chlorine in the soil. Some plants are sensitive to it.

Adding a humidifier can increase moisture reducing leaf drop caused by dry air. I do not recommend misting which can promote leaf fungal growth. Pebble trays of water are useless for a plant that size. 🍀🪴

I had a nice flf. It lost all of its leaves. I thought it was dead so set pot outside on the deck. A new leaf sprouted on stem. I brought it back in, put in smaller pot and there is five leaves on old stem! Never give up!

My rescue was stagnant for months, I was getting bored. 🫣 I got it under a light and gave it the tiniest little bit of fertilizer and BAM. I know they are small, but it’s December and it’s her first go at new growth.
