# What’s going on with my PPP? The older of these 2 leaves pushed out…

_Posted by Cemarshall on 2024-08-21_

What’s going on with my PPP? The older of these 2 leaves pushed out while I was on a week long vacation so maybe a humidity thing? It’s been about a month of consistent watering (when necessary - not on a schedule) so I’m concerned that it might be something else? Any help is appreciated!

is the moss pole a recent addition?

#### Cemarshall replied on 2024-08-21

Yes. Relatively. I think I switched it just before my vacation- it had a different moss pole that I just couldn’t keep moist

I’m betting it’s that inconsistency in watering — the moss holding onto more moisture when the new leaves were expecting/used to less. it should adapt. I got a funny leaf on my silver sword after I added a moss pole

it’s \*not\* thrips!

Thanks for your knowledge! Hopefully it will adjust and start giving me lovely leaves again soon!

Thrips probably. 😭

😬 I haven’t seen any pests but now I’ll take another closer look!

pink princess new leaves are naturally bronze like this

I’m aware. I’m talking about the crisping near the tips that’s causing the newest leaf to stay furled and the second newest leaf to crisp and curl upwards. You can see pest damage on the smaller leaf that grew right before the newest leaf, which can either be mites or thrips. Something is eating the plant.

The patchy yellow reminds me of mite damage, which will show in spots of yellow.

Good news plant friends! The next leaf has unfurled and it is lovely! Hopefully this trend continues! I did clean its leaves after posting but didn’t see any pests (always good to clean just in case 😉). Then I just carried on as normal and this baby came out.

Thanks again for your help and suggestions!
