# Looking for some advice plant friends. A friend of mine lent me this…

_Posted by Candace on 2024-04-04_

Looking for some advice plant friends. A friend of mine lent me this begonia to try and save. It was in a 6 inch pot and suffering, leaves losing color and yellowing. Upon further inspection the roots were looking fine and healthy. but severely root bound. I put it in a 8 nursery pot but cut it to fit in the decorative pot they brought over, (due to lack of drainage) and I thought they would have a better shot being able to see the root system. So my friend doesn’t want to cut the leaves that are yellowing, personally I think they have to right? Idk. Looking for any, and all advice. I had to break up the root ball, so I don’t want to further stress the plant. It’s hard to see but there are two canes here.

Is she getting too much light?

No I don’t believe so

If anything probably not enough, it’s been very cloudy in Michigan.

I only ask because mine starts to lose contrast and take on this yellow/green colour when it’s closer to a light source. I don’t know that it’s a bad thing necessarily but I like the darker foliage so I keep mine pretty far away from the window. My Angel wing is definitely a different variety however.

Definitely makes sense. I asked my friend and they said it is in a pretty sunny spot, but they’ve had it in the same spot for 2 years and this just started a couple weeks ago.

I’m not quite as far south as where you are but the sun has been noticeably more intense the last few weeks on the Canadian prairies. But there might be something else here at play… I wish I had more tips for you but I only got off the struggle bus with my plant (overwatering)
