beginner here: i just bought this pothos off of facebook yesterday. this will be the first plant i own other than my succulents. Can someone please further educated me on if something is wrong here. i’ve read that yellowing means over watering, the branches seems to have browning and a bark type feel on spots. Also the soil is only filled halfway in the pot in came in and the bottom looks like pebbles of some sort underneath. what do i need to do?

I don’t know for sure if this is right but I know that there are different types of Pothos and I know that there is a type that is variegated with a yellowish green color so this could be what it is. Again I am no expert either but looking at the first picture it doesn’t look like how overwatering yellow would look

yeah i fuigured it was a golden, but do you know if the browning spots are normal or not? do i need to repot it or add any soil? some of the stems honestly dont seem too deep in there and pull out from just a small accidental tug

Were they there when you got it or did they just start

I just bought this off of someone yesterday online so i have no real answers, it looks like she might’ve propagated it and put new ones in there. it stays in by a single root i can see but the big stem i can pull out

If more people comment do what they say but I would give it a day or two and see if it gets worse. If it does I would probably wash the dirt off and check the roots. Any brown mushy stinky roots are rotted but the leaves of the plant look healthy so I honestly have no idea

It looks like they’ve put pebbles in the pot in lue of drainage. As a beginner parent I would suggest repotting into a pot with drainage and no pebbles. You can pot in a nursery pot and put it in the decorative one to make it look prettier.

I’d probably remove a lot of that soil and repot with my own mix (I do 50% potting soil, 50% equal parts - perlite, orchid bark, small lava rock - but lots of people have great mixes). Then choose a pot 1-2” larger then the rootball.

okay thank you, also is the bark-type stuff in the stems normal? it seems to have sections with it and a lot of brown dried aerial roots which i read those are atleast normal i think?
