The bottom leaf on my Birds of Paradise is turning yellow, but the rest of the plant is doing wonderfully and even frowning two new leaves! This happened a few weeks ago with the bottom small leaves as well. Normal for winter? Overwatering?

A lot of the time yellowing leaves at the bottom of the plant indicate a plant being root bound. I’d check and see if he needs a larger pot.

It could simply be that the leaf is old and dying off, which is a natural thing and nothing to worry about! If the rest of the plant is happy and healthy, it shouldn’t be anything more than that.
