Help please! I went back home from a holiday for 2 weeks and found my Alocacia leaf turning this colour. This happened before for one of its small leaves and died. I noticed it drooped as well. Can’t figure out What’s the problem…last time I watered was before leaving for my holiday and I just measured soil moisture and don’t think it needs watering at the moment. I love this plant so much and I need help keeping it alive 😢

Alocasias are such divas lol. They like to drop leaves all the time. I wouldn’t worry too much if it’s one of the older leaves

They are quite dramatic I agree 😅 do you think it needs more frequent fertilization? Last time was a month ago

That could help! They’re heavy feeders. They grow on the rainforest floor, so they get all the nutrients that trickles down from above them (That’s also why they can’t handle drying out - they live in very a very moist/humid area). I give mine 1/4th strength fertilizer every watering. For example, instead of giving it 1 tsp every 4 weeks, I would give it 1/4th tsp every week.

That’s very helpful thank you!

soil looks a bit dry — these don’t want to dry out ever. little queens

The upper part is dry you’re right but when I use the moisture meter down to the deeper layer it tells me it’s still moist and I could feel it with my finger so that’s why I was confused 🤔

i don’t trust moisture meters but this shouldn’t be dry even on the top. this is as dry as i ever let my alocasia get — i’ll water again tomorrow. I water more frequently because I have mine in terra cotta (don’t recommend this for alocasia lol)
