# WHAT THE F IS THIS MOLD ☹️ (prince of orange philodendron) i swear…

WHAT THE F IS THIS MOLD ☹️ (prince of orange philodendron) i swear this appeared overnight. I check my plants almost daily and I haven’t seen any white spots on him. I watered him like three days ago and he was fine. HELP!!! Is this dangerous? I separated from my other plants the minute I noticed but I am horrified. Edit to say it is mostly UNDER the leaves and on the stems. Almost right where the stems connect to the leaves and underneath them it’s the worst.

It’s also dripping rust colored stuff onto my white pot whenever I water it. Please advise guys I’m freaking out..

Can you elaborate on this? Is the rust color dripping from the plant itself?

My first thought would be tannins from the wood in your soil mix

It drips off the plant itself. It’s actually causing my pots paint to crack (acrylic) which is extremely weird and makes me think it may be very acidic. I can take a close up photo of it when I get home. It might be the sap from the plant leaking out from where the mealy bugs have eaten.

I’ve now come to the conclusion that this is probably a mealy bug infestation so I doused it in neem oil and another plant that was next to it. Pray for me.

Hi there, I was just going to say that looks like mealy bugs! If you get a q tip and dip it in water and rubbing alcohol mixed into a little lid, dab off whatever is left if you have any more on either of the plants. They will turn orange when you do. Make sure you wipe off as many as you can
