My fiddle leaf fig unfortunately has fungus gnats, and there’s a lot of information on getting rid of them which can be confusing. Can anyone give me simple, easy ways that don’t involve spending a ton of money?

If only it were that easy lol they are the bane of my existence. I noticed a huge improvement with bottom watering plants and then using the yellow sticky traps to get rid of the remaining ones.

I guess mainly want something straight forward. I know they’re a long term hassle, but there are so many suggestions on the internet it gets overwhelming and I don’t know which strategy to go with.

You kinda just gotta pick one you’re comfortable with. I don’t think there’s a silver bullet.

1\. Get like 2-4 carnivorous plants; they’re good at getting some of the adult fungus gnats but they usually cost a lot (my Venus flytrap was 14 dollars for this miniature little thing and getting three is 42 💸
2\. If you don’t want to do #1 then just get a pack of yellow sticky traps and stick it in the soil and then ⬇️
3\. Water it with 1:3 parts hydrogen peroxide and water every time it’s thirsty until you no longer see any fungus gnats flying around it, then water it again even after that point just to make sure.
4\. After that step only bottom water (put it in a tray with water up to 1/4 of the pot so all the soil but the top inches where they can lay eggs are watered. This is also good for encouraging the roots to grow down) and keep the yellow sticky traps in the soil. This will keep the fungus gnats from coming back.
