# Well friends, my time has finally come. With 100+ houseplants, I’ve…

Well friends, my time has finally come. With 100+ houseplants, I’ve spotted thrips on two of them.

I’ve sprayed all leaves with spinosad, and added/watered in systemic granules into the soil. I have also treated nearby plants, though neither of the visually affected ones were touching other plants.

I believe they sat undetected for a good bit as they were found on a philodendron I got many months ago. I was not quite as adamant (crazy) about quarantine + new home treatment then as I am now.

Unfortunately, my mind is going absolutely insane thinking that my entire collection is infested, though I know that’s not the case. They were spotted on four leaves between two plants at most. Both are healthy-looking, vibrant, and have new growth.

Any additional tips (or simple reassurance to calm my mind) are welcome. TIA! 🤍🪴

Hiii,

Get some insecticidal soap. It’s a contact killer. Spinosad only works by ingestion and granules can take 2 weeks to kick in. Insecticidal soap kills within seconds once it touches the bug. It’s way better control. Gl!

O NO !!!
I -2 teaspoons Neem oil put it in a bottle with some water and soap and spray the whole entire plant Don’t forget underneath leaves 🍃
The Neem oil suffocates the buggars

Agreed with the existing comments on insecticidal soap. When I got thrips, I treated the plants once a week for four weeks with insecticidal soap and that took care of it. I also kept the affected plants in quarantine until I finished the treatment which was a pain but worthwhile. It might also be good to take the time to disinfect all the nearby surfaces as well.

The insecticidal soap worked really well for me. One of my plants that I hadn't noticed was covered but it is good now.

Thank you Lisa!!! I grabbed some this morning and got to work on all of the plants in that room. Really happy to know that it’s worked so well for everyone.
