Check the roots. Is the number one thing to check, see if there's any root rot. Cuz I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure ivy likes it drier. I have wild ivy in my backyard that is nearly invasive and I live in a very dry climate, so maybe try that? Like, less attention?

Lilly is right, I believe your plant is getting sick from most likely no drainage/ blocked up drainage holes. Excess watering led to built up in roots .

Especially if you just let the plant sit and you dump water and think it’s drinking it but it’s not . It’s just built up holding it.

Best bet to repot clean container/
New soil/

What should I do if it doesn't work?? Get rid of it?

What should I look for at the roots?

Your plant is getting sick and gooey in the middle.

Get a new pot/

Pull plant out by squeezing the sides evenly delicately. Don’t pull from the stem.

Tilt the pot downward while holding the top soil with your palm.

Lift the plants pot off. And simply place in a new pot topping off with soil and water .

Don’t compact with your fingers.

Just shake the container with soil so it fits nice and falls in.

After cleaning the roots completely, trim off any roots that look brown or black rather than white. Anything that is too squishy.

Don't give up until/unless it is fully dead

I really don't know much and Lord knows I've killed a forest of ivy's along my journey, but she looks better to me in the last pic. Looks to me like she got a new haircut (after a bad break up- no projection here lol) and she's ready for a new adventure. Good luck and keep us posted. 🧡
