_Publicado por Bee el 2024-05-14_

I think my baby tails has died :( he’s an ivy in my south facing window- he’s just so unhappy and has been since I brought him home- he doesn’t have drainage, is that the problem? Some of his leaves have simply fallen off. Is it too late to save my lil guy? Please help 💚🥲

That’s a possibility 😔

I suspect lack of drainage is the culprit. If the roots are sitting in water because it can’t drain out, that’ll soon kill off an ivy.

Brown, dry leaves are a sign the roots are in too much water.

I don’t know if it’s too late to save him though. I would look to repot him in a pot with drainage. You should check for root rot first and cut away any damaged or rotten roots and if there was any root rot, treat the roots with diluted hydrogen peroxide (google should give you the quantities or water to HP).

There are plenty of YouTube videos which can help with how to attempt a rescue from root rot if you find any.

Otherwise, just repot into a pot with drainage and fresh soil (esp if your existing soil is waterlogged).
