# My soil is growing mold! Does anyone have any idea if this is okay…

My soil is growing mold! Does anyone have any idea if this is okay and if I should leave it alone? Or should I scoop it up and discard? Completely replace the soil? Any ideas are helpful! Thank you!
P.s. both pots have plenty of drainage between the perlite and the orchid bark mixture
I only water when the soil is dry but the mold just popped up recently

Sprinkle cinnamon!

i’d scoop out that top layer and sprinkle cinnamon. bottom water whenever this is dry. this should help with fungus gnats too btw. good luck

I have asthma and allergies, so I prefer my plants mold and fungus free, especially if they're indoor plants. I'd spray the topsoil with 3:1 parts water and diluted (3%) hydrogen peroxide. Just make sure to mix a fresh batch every time you apply since the hydrogen peroxide starts to break down and lose its efficacy when exposed to light

Yes, this is good advice!

I use a small desk fan and found it helps pretty much eliminate that from occurring on most of my plants.
