# Heyyy everyone, I’m new to the plant community and I’m struggling a…

Heyyy everyone, I’m new to the plant community and I’m struggling a bit. This is my new baby I purchased from the grocery story but it hasn’t done great since I got it home and repotted. Can anyone provide tips to get this plant baby back to health. I’ve already cut off leaves and it’s still looking bad.

There could be a lot of things going on. The plant actually looks not too bad other than those brown patches. Since the rest of the plant looks okay you can probably rule out leaf disease, other things would be improper watering on improper light. I’d try moving it perhaps away from the window a bit and making sure the soil isn’t mushy.

Interesting, I just moved it to this spot. At first it was in the hallway. I read it doesn’t like lime water so I’m changing my water out. Thank you!

That could also be it. That’s what caused brown tips on my peace lily. Maybe more sun will also help. Unfortunately these things are always a trial of more or less water and light. 😭 I’ve had to do it so much. I wouldn’t worry too much though, it doesn’t look too bad.

I believe that is a calathea. They enjoy high humidity. I aim for 50 to 60 percent. They also do best with distilled or RO water. Trouble with certain minerals and chemicals in tap water. Beautiful plants but picky about their needs.

Very picky! I just changed my water out and I’ve been misting it more. Thank you for the tips.
