What is this on the under side of my monsteras leaves? When I rub it it’s like a powder.

So I had to look up what scale was. It doesn’t look like anything on google. I’ll try to get a better picture

it’s rust. the only effective way i’ve found to treat it is unfortunately cutting off all affected foliage. if this means cutting off all your plants leaves, it may be wise to only remove the affected parts of leaves (with a sterile blade) so that the plant still has some healthy tissue for photosynthesis.

Thank you! Luckily it’s just that one leaf. It’s a small one near the base of the plant.

that’s great that it’s just one leaf. i would inspect thoroughly just to be sure, rust can spread quickly. keep checking up on your plant and hopefully there will be no more spots!

Keep an eye on the plant for awhile. It took out one of my big monsteras. 😭
