# Got a Drosera Spatulata ‘sundew’ from my local plant store…

_Geplaatst door Ozzie Lome op 2024-11-13_

Got a Drosera Spatulata ‘sundew’ from my local plant store (discounted) any tips to bring it back to life? I currently have it under artificial lights 8hrs a day and water it with distilled water.

It doesn't look to bad. After it acclimate you could bump the light time up to 12-16. And just keep that drip tray filled with water

Gotcha will do! Thank you 🤙🏼

You can give it a boost with a foliage feed of diluted MaxSea too. If you plan to keep it indoors and under a brighter light. Otherwise wait till your climate gets warmer

This one. Just on the foliage and then i let it drain off, and put them back in their trays 1/4 tsp per gallon of water.... math that down for 1 plant 😆

Give it a dormancy

I’m a noob what does that mean?? 😅

It's a tropical sundew. So doesn't need a dormancy, unless you'll have it outside and it's freezing temps. Dormancy means it will get cold, shorter light period and the plant dies back.

Ohhh thanks for breaking it down for me 🙌🏼

This is a Venus Flys trap going into dormancy. They require one, as do most temperate to cold weather carnivorous plants.

i have the same sundew same size that was plenty healthy and it’s dying on me. I kept the tray with water and plenty of light and it’s still dying

I’d do what Wolfen said and try to feed the foliage with the MaxSea

Also make sure to use rain water or distilled water.

If you do use dormancy and it’s to cold or warm outside live it in the fridge you take the plant out of the pot bare root and be sure the rhizome is showing wrap in spaghum the New Zealand is recommended but American is fine do not use decorative finally put in plastic bag voila also check for mold or fungus every month
