Hi everyone! Yesterday I repotted, washed, and treated both my alocasias with an insecticide that mostly contains Sulphur and potassium salts. These are next day photos: I still see little white bugs in leaf crevices, but I suspect the spray doesn't work this fast. I have a few questions: 1) what kind of pest do you think these are? 2) How long do you think it'll take to get rid of them? The label on the spray says to spray thoroughly once every 7 days, I wonder if these babies will have to spend another month in quarantine. Thanks everyone, I really appreciate you:)

My guess is spider mites. You can try an insecticide with pyrethrum, spinosad or bifenthrin. They will probably have different application schedule for whichever you chose.

I use captain jacks because it’s easily accessible for me.

I second the spider mites diagnosis. I would keep them quarantined for a while yet.
I also found that on top of a weekly spray down and pest treatment; using scotch tape really helped.
Make a roll, so that the sticky parts are outside and you can fit two fingers inside. Then use the tape to pick up all the bugs you can see on the leaves and stems. And toss it into a covered trash can.
Then wash your hands well and possibly change your shirt.
I would do this once or twice a day. I feel it really helped shorten the “infection”.

I’m no expert, but it looks like thrips. Spider mites leave webbing which you prob would have noticed. Spider mites can be washed away. If you washed the plant and the next day you noticed white bugs, its prob thrips. The damage looks like thrip damage. If the white bugs look like grains of rice, they thrips. I’m hoping I’m wrong.

It looks like thrips to me too. They are tenacious and breed quickly.

I honestly expect next to anything from the clearance section. However, They don't look like rice grains to me, more like tiny round white spots. Also when we just picked up this guy from the store, he had a white residue in the crevices where the bugs are, so I started suspecting spidermites. (I feel like I'm going to whip up a USB microscope and take a look at those bastards to be sure lol) What do you recommend doing if it's thrips? I bought an insecticide, it doesn't list thrips as pests it can kill. Do I wipe with rubbing alcohol? Peroxide? Vinegar solution? Those helped me with molds and aphids before, at least:) Thanks!
