# Can anyone tell me what these little growths are all over the…

Can anyone tell me what these little growths are all over the branches of my ficus tree? I’m still pretty new to plants and I’m not sure if it’s something invasive or normal to grow there… pls help!😅

It kind of looks like scale to me—a friend’s plant had scale. It’s not exact but it’s my closest guess. Either way that’s DEFINITELY not supposed to be there. Godspeed, man

This is a heavy infestation of armored scale. They raise their babies underneath them!😬

Remove them by taking the plant outside and scrape off or pluck them. Use the dull side of a plastic or metal knife to scrape all of them off. Place a cloth over the soil and around the pot to catch them as they fall. Properly dispose of them to avoid infecting other plants. Spray all of the plant with neem oil to suffocate the hard to see ones. Check every week for reoccurrence. 🪴🍀

Armored scale?! Is it a bug or a fungus or what?

Bug, the commenter mentions they raise their babies under those warts.

Definitely a living insect. They are soft shell and hard shell varieties. Some start out soft, then, harden. They seal their edges like a barnacle to protect their growing young who later eat their way out of their mother’s carcass. Interesting and creepy !😆

Oh my goodness. Those are so creepy!! Definitely get it away from any other plants.

Luckily, this plant is in a corner alone so my other plants should be fine

Yikes! ARMORED SCALE?! As if the regular ol’ scale wasn’t bad enough. I kinda expect something to pop up from underneath one of those things with an RPG (rocket propelled grenade)! 😳🫣
