I feel like my Boston fern isn’t as green and spunky as he was when I first purchased. Based off his appearance, any experienced plant parents know what might be going on?

I see your plant is outside in New Jersey! If I’m remembering correctly, Boston Ferns like a lot of humidity and need a stable temperature (I don’t exactly remember the range)  
Perhaps he’s just stressed out from temperature fluctuations in your area. Bringing him inside could be helpful.
