# Help! This is my jade plant (Stanley) and he is my pride and joy but…

Help!  
This is my jade plant (Stanley) and he is my pride and joy but recently he’s been getting these brown patches- are they just from direct sunlight/ damage/ or something even worse!!

How long has Stanley been in the same pot?

How often do you fertilise? And also water? And had the temperature by chance increased where you live in the last 3 months?

It’s got very hot in the last 2/3 weeks- I water as the app recommends, about every 2 weeks

The app is a guideline and is not always correct. Do you check the soil for dryness before scheduled time. To me Stanley looks dehydrated. The leaves are thin and not plump. And when you water, is it a drenching watering? Water should be exiting the drain hole and entire pot should be moist. The pot will feel heavy with all the water it has soaked in. Sometimes if the soil is dry for an extended time, it will repel water. Then easiest is a long extended bottom watering until top is moist.

Does Stanley still live in the same place he always has? Regardless of increased heat and harsher sunlight?

Yeah he’s not been moved since heatwave hit :/

I recon if you move him to a spot with bright light but no direct sunlight for a bit, till the heatwave passes, he will probably love you for it 🙏🏻
