One of my peace lilies have taken a nose dive and I have no idea why. I got these two together a few years back. Though we’ve had some ups and downs figuring out our system, they normally mirror the same condition. So, to see one on the come-up and beginning to flower while the other looks like she’s on her death bed is confusing and worrying. Even when the one began to flower a few weeks ago, the other seemed fine (I figured she just needs a little more time; no biggie). But, a few days ago, I noticed her weltering. I watered them both and switched their position so she’d get more sun but, she started looking worse so I switched them back. When I checked this morning, I see she looks like she’s on her way out. I touched the soil and its dry at the top though I can tell its still damp underneath. Idk if I should water her more, leave her alone or what. Im so lost.\*

You may need to go ahead and get more pots and separate divvy them up into more pots. The roots may be getting too large for those pots for one. Make sure they are well draining pots so they don’t sit in the water after you water them so they don’t get root rot. You shouldn’t need to fertilize if you repot them because the new potting soil typically has fertilizer in it. They do kinda look like they’ve been overwatered but I could be wrong. Mine is only a year old and twice that size but I believe the pot is much larger. So I think going up in the pot size and splitting them up maybe making 4 plants out of the two would be better at this point or not even going with a larger pot size but going with large well drinking pots at least 10” pots. Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in. I’ve just never had any issues with mine but I think I’ve just been fortunate honestly. Typically I’d say they need more water but the yellowing say overwatered usually. And you said the soil is still wet underneath so I wouldn’t water again. My very first peace Lilly years ago I think I over watered too and the same thing happens too as yours. This time I just water when it starts to drop and I water it really well in my shower and let it sit to drain in there and take it back out. That’s maybe once a week during the winter and once every two weeks or so during the summer. The heat in my sun room dries it out faster during the winter when I had the heat on. Lastly, girl it may sound crazy. But I talk to my plants like their people. I ask them how they’re doing and what they need. I joke with them and all. Sounds silly but I do that in my garden too and I declare they seem to do better!

Thank you. Ill take all of this into consideration. You may be right; it may just be time for a revamp. I watered them as I normally do though, my paranoia makes me wonder if the water conditions in my city/complex are dwindling (they’ve been shutting it off more lately). I talk to mine as well! I give them positive affirmations after every watering and literally cried out “What’s wrong???!!!” when I saw her condition change. If only they could tell me.\*

I don’t know what to say because mine did the same thing. I didn’t even have ups and downs. It was doing fantastic for over a year. The suddenly it looked like yours. I wasn’t doing anything different. As hard as I tried I finally had to give up. I hope you can figure it out. Good luck.

The change out of nowhere is crazy. Thank you for the well wishes. I’m sorry you had to give yours up.\*

Oh that is frustrating! I would check the roots and see if they are ok. If there is rotted roots, trim those and repot in fresh soil. If the roots are ok then it’s most likely a watering issue. Either too much or too little. Are you sure the soil is moist, not cold? (This happened to me and I was under watering). Is the pot light or heavy?

The roots are moist; I can feel how dense it is and the pot is heavy. The leaves are all soft. I guess I’ll have to get in there and check the roots. Thank you for this.\*
