# all my plants have been developing mold on the top layer of the soil?…

_Lagt ut av Qq.Begonia den 2024-06-11_

all my plants have been developing mold on the top layer of the soil? I have been removing the mold but it keeps coming back and the soil never really dries out. the plants themselves seem somewhat healthy but also dehydrated. I'm very new to plants and have been searching everywhere but I haven't found SQUAT about this. does anyone know what to do or why this is happening? I've been watering my plants the same and juat got some new plants and now they all have this problem.

Good you’re repotting, what soil mix do you use? Also how is the airflow in your house? Anddd how high do you fill the soil up in your pots?

It’s probably saprophytic fungi (unless it smells like mold) which is pretty common.

I would repot the plants with half potting soil, half perlite

Show sample photos of the whole plants and the soil.
Are you watering by a set schedule even when the soil is still wet?

It’s sounds like an overwatering issue. You’re saying they seem dehydrated that could be because the roots are rotting and not able to use the water. Good that you’re repotting, check the roots with your eyes and your nose and drop more pics for Sunny!
