# Wondering what’s going on with this Zz plant? It was moved from a pot…

Wondering what’s going on with this Zz plant? It was moved from a pot without drainage to one with drainage a few weeks ago, but it’s still looking very sad. The soil is super dry now.

the pot is too small, and needs to be closer to a window like basically in the window

I think the pot size is fine. Did you happen to check the condition of the rhizones and the roots when you repotted it? It could have root rot from being without drainage.

It definitely had some root rot when I changed the pot. I cleaned off as best as I could, and have been careful not to overwater!

I also think the pot size is fine (esp for the size of the root system after the rot)

whatever these people are saying, i have a raven zz and have split off several babies. when the stalks are long and huge like that no matter the root system they want room to grow. they have thick roots that need extra space, if that pot is below 8-10 inches i would transplant, with the soil mixture you have it will be better off

Ok gotcha! May give it a go! I just feel bad for stressing the plant out so much trying to figure out the right size 😅😅

if she has big fat rhizones like mine do she might benefit from a bigger pot, i know the root system may be small but if she has any like thick hearty ones, she should be fine they are quite resilient in my experience, i find that if the leaves are crispy she’s underwatered but honestly once or twice a month i soak her and she is thriving, if any of this helps
