Hi there, this is my first post on Planta, but it seems like a lovely and supportive community, and I could use some advice on my new Kentia Palm. I’m hoping that you experienced plant people can help!

I’ve had my Kentia for just under a month, and in the last week, I noticed that some of her fronds are turning brownish grey and other leaves are getting yellow spots.

The AI Planta Doctor said it could be the stress of moving, or issues with watering, light, or fertilizing. I haven’t fertilized her since bringing her home, per the instructions of the plant store, so it seems unlikely that that is the problem? I wonder if it’s not enough light, but I don’t want to add a grow light and burn the leaves, as I know Kentias prefer bright indirect light. Any instincts on what the problem might be and how I can turn it around? Photos attached.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts!

From my experience (assuming no foul play by pests), it’s overwatering/lack of drainage, low humidity, or just stress from moving.

Typically plant stores are SO humid, that when these tropical plants come into our homes, they suffer because they were used to being in the store.
