# Help! My monstera has been so healthy until I repotted it in new soil…

_Gepostet von Aria am 2025-04-17_

Help! My monstera has been so healthy until I repotted it in new soil about three weeks ago. I used tropical soil and sphagum moss because I heard it’s really good for them 🥲 is this yellowing at the bottom indicating root rot? I really don’t want to have to repot it all over again :( plus the leaves are suddenly drooping 💔

So I know some of my plants look super sad for a few weeks after repotting, so I Googled it and this is what it says:

Monstera plants can experience transplant shock after repotting, leading to symptoms like yellowing leaves, stunted growth, or wilting. This is a temporary condition, and with proper care, the plant should recover within a few weeks.

Hopefully that’s the case and you should be fine!

Thank you. I hope so 😭 but I feel like it’s getting worse not better. I just moved the soil around so hopefully that helps some air flow in there😅

does the pot have drainage, and is the soil nice and chunky? ive never heard of using spag moss in the soil, but moss poles are often suggested to help them climb

Sphagnum moss mixed with tropical potting soil is supposed to be really good against root rot I read. I think maybe the soil got compacted down too much? The soil isn’t chunky, though. It’s fine and soft. But it does have drainage!

chunky soils tend to be best, as it allows the roots to get air so they can breathe! i bet you could keep the spag moss, but if the leaves keep yellowing at a quick rate, then i would repot, and add ammendments like perlite, orchid bark, vermiculite, pumice, and/or coco coir! a 50/50 mix from soil to ammendment is what you will see a lot of people on here say is best :)
