# Hi all, new to plants and recently got this lovely Parlor Palm!…

Hi all, new to plants and recently got this lovely Parlor Palm! However, it’s been rapidly developing brown/yellow leaves, and also some brown spots. It gets lots of sun, so I thought maybe it was from being in direct sunlight and scorching the leaves. Moved it to a spot with bright, indirect sunlight, but it doesn’t seem to be looking any better…. Any thoughts or advice? \*EDIT\* I added a photo of its roots too…. Lmk!!

If new leaves are still turning brown and yellow in the spot with less light, check for a watering issue. My parlor palm likes to dry out a bit before I water again. Not totally dry like a succulent, but first few inches of soil.

Ah thank you! I checked the soil and it’s completely dry, so I just watered it to see if maybe that was the culprit…….
