# Hi All, I’m hoping someone can offer me some insight regarding these…

Hi All,
I’m hoping someone can offer me some insight regarding these signs of disease on my ‘Black Velvet’ Alocasia.

This is the second or third year it has developed these spots. In the past they have grown larger and eventually I have removed the affected leaves.

Four of the eight leaves are affected. The rest of the plant looks healthy. I’ve treated for pests and fungus, but not aggressively.

I read somewhere that this is a normal “shedding” for their dormancy period, but I’d like confirmation please.

Thank you in advance,
Diane

I'm not familiar with the spotting. But usually a crisp leaf point is low humidity.

Thank you.
I have a humidifier in the 10’ x 10’ room and the plant is often near it.

The crisp edge doesn’t develop until after the odd yellow blotches have been present.

Gotcha, so probably a by product vs low humidity
