This is my third time asking and my research isn’t… _Elapse님이 2024-04-10에 게시함_ Please help!!! This is my third time asking and my research isn’t helping because everything I ready says under watering is the problem with my angel wings/ caldium. It was droopy and sad when I got home on Sunday and I gave it water, but it’s getting worse. I misted it yesterday and gave it a tiny bit more water today. Does it need filtered water? Is it too cold in my room, or is it just really drought sensitive. It also began developing brown spots and thin leaves (prob from cells dying). What should I do. Unfortunately I don’t know much about this plant but I do know that plants with white variegation tend to kill off that the white parts when unhappy about something. I’d say if you gave it water just monitor it to see if it’s still growing and nothing else is browning if it keeps browning check to see if the roots didn’t start to rot or dying off. If that becomes the case you can take a cutting to put in water to try to save some of the plant #### Vexed님이 2024-04-10에 답변했습니다. Also if misting I’ve heard that you should mist the air around a plant that has white variegation as water sitting on the leaves for to long can also cause brown or the white to die back ### letsfindjoy님이 2024-04-10에 댓글을 남겼어요. Are you physically checking the soil before watering? Definitely sounds like you are overwatering. Any time you bring a plant home it will be stressed so that’s probably what happened since you just brought it home and then now it’s overwatered so it’s more stressed. Don’t water again until physically checking the soil. With caladiums you don’t want to wait to water until it’s bone dry but when the top half is dry. Misting has too many cons so I’d get a humidifier if your home isn’t above 50% humidity bc these guys like humidity. ### letsfindjoy님이 2024-04-10에 댓글을 남겼어요. Oops thanks so much for the information. #### letsfindjoy님이 2024-04-10에 답변했습니다. It’s okay, we learn as we go! Repotting so soon after getting it also stresses a plant. In future I would wait 2 weeks to repot after getting a new plant so to avoid over stressing. Also, make sure the soil is well draining. Really any houseplant soil I’ve found will need amendments added to help improve drainage so I’d at least add extra perlite. ### Sunny님이 2024-04-11에 댓글을 남겼어요. I commented on your previous post. You posted this 2 weeks ago on the day you bought it. It was dripping water from the leaves that day with signs of leaf damage and you had not even watered it yet. But, you already repotted it the same day you bought it. My comments were the plant dripping water from the leaves is called guttation, the process plants use to push excess water out. I stated the leaf damage looked like edema, not sunburn. Edema is excess water in the leaves causing the cells to burst. The leaves still look water damaged from excess water the plant can’t get rid of. The damage has spread. Additionally, translucent leaves are another sign of excess water in the leaves. It was already overwatered when you bought it. You added more water from misinterpreting data and assumed under watering as the cause. This exacerbated the over watering problem. I recommend you treat it as another over watered plant and stop adding water. Follow the above advice from Letsfindjoy. Hopefully, it can survive. Also, the plant is not harming itself because of white leaves. There are several caladium varieties with many white areas on the leaves that not only thrive in full sun, but, return the next growing season.
