we are new to being plant parents and having these two plants. we would like some help if anyone can? all of a sudden yesterday, we noticed yellowing but aren’t sure what we’re doing wrong.

we’re going to repot the corkscrew today or tomorrow and i noticed this morning the soil in the alocasia is quite damp so maybe that?

any help is great, thankyou 🤣

How often have you been watering them? The corkscrew one looks so cool btw

unless soil was too wet, we’ve been using the auto schedule so corkscrew two days and alocasia 8 days. it’s an interesting one isn’t it??

Kirasade is right for sure, definitely don’t use the auto schedule for watering, the corkscrew and the alocasia are probably turning yellow due to root rot from bad soil and overwatering. After doing some research looks like the corkscrew likes to be watered every week and a half. And alocasia is again like Kirasade said, they like to be consistently moist but not wet. Chopstick method is a good way to, I myself would recommend getting a moisture meter (I got mine for 8 bucks on Amazon), its perfect because it’ll tell you if the soil is wet, moist or dry. So for alocasia I’d let it get down to almost dry but still moist before you water again. For corkscrew it’s the same, keep it moist but not wet. Hopefully that helps too!

Agreed.
My zebrina like moist soil. If I let her get dry she will drop leaves like flies.

The questions I have is:
1\) how often do you water?
2\) what kind of soil do you have them in?

unless soil was too wet, we’ve been using the auto schedule so corkscrew two days and alocasia 8 days. the soil was what we purchased them both in from nursery so not too sure

So I’m not sure about the cork screw but the Zebrina I would put into a chunky aroid mix. They want to be consistently moist but not wet. Just make sure the mix has something that retains some moisture. I personally love Mollys Aroid mix. The box store soil tends to to be to dense and not very well draining. Another thing is a schedule is a good way to check your plants but I wouldn’t water them strictly on it. There’s going to be some days where the water didn’t evaporate do to the amount of sun/ temperature. So what I do is on the day it says to water I check with a chopstick and the weight. If they need a water I do it, if not I check back in in a couple of days. 🤷‍♀️
