I noticed my Thai con monstera developing large brown spots on the variegated portions of the leaves, and after some investigating I also discovered dusty looking brown patches and a few thrips 😭

Any tips on how to get rid of them? I’ve tried a houseplant insecticide that seems to help temporarily but after a day or so the thrips are back. I’ve seen them on two other plants as well and have been treating all 3 together in isolation. Is there anything else I can do? :(

The first pic is before damage when it was thriving and the rest are current. I also carefully trimmed away any brown portions of the leaves.

I would take it out of the soil and submerge it in a mix of water, rubbing alcohol and dish soap (I can’t remember the amounts but you should be able to find one quite easily). Then change out the soil completely. I would do that to every plant that you suspect might have them and keep them isolated and spray them with the same alcohol and soap mix frequently until they’re gone. It’s quite a long process but it’s worth it on a plant like that one :)

I’ll try this out asap, thank you!
