bit of discoloration on this fairly new monstera andansonii. no other leaves have the same spot or show signs of it. Any clues as to what might be happening here?

It might be thrips or spider mites. I would treat for pests just to be safe!

It kinda looks like sport varigation. But I agree to double check for pests just in case

It does not look worrisome to me unless you actually see pests on the back of the leaf or stems. Preventative treatment is usually a good option but if you don't see anything don't stress out about it.

I think I would use All seasons oil. It covers a wide range of pesky creatures. Make sure you get the backs of the leaves and the leaf axles. If they are present that's where they would be hiding.

It now has a brown spot on the edge 😓
