# My money tree has some fungus gnats that I just discovered today when…

_Publié par Kristin S. le 2024-05-10_

My money tree has some fungus gnats that I just discovered today when trying to start the braid (it’s a very small plant). I got some peppermint and neem oil that’s delivering tomorrow. What’s the best way to go about getting rid of these? I thought about completely stripping down to the roots, repotting completely and spraying the neem oil directly onto the plant but I honestly know nothing about plant care. I am very much a beginner.

Ugh fungus gnats are so annoying. 😩
I haven’t had any luck killing them with Neem oil.
I use yellow sticky traps to kill the adults (I found a bunch on Amazon for cheap), and either mosquito bits or mosquito dunks every time I water (I find these on Amazon or at a hardware store).

Thank you!!! I did see the mosquito bits. I might try those out.

If I’m using the bits I put them in a coffee filter and soak them in my watering can for 30 minutes prior to watering.
If I’m using a dunk I just throw them into my watering can and make sure it sits in the water over night. And after a month I pop in a new dunk.
Good luck with those irritating little things! 🤞🏻 the good news is I don’t think they cause any damage unless it is a sever infestation. They are just irritating. 😂

I always just repot it and remove all the dirt. Then I chop off the rotting roots.
