# I got this mint plant two weeks ago and I have replanted it twice in…

_Posted by Madison on 2024-08-28_

I got this mint plant two weeks ago and I have replanted it twice in miracle grow with proper drainage water regularly, and enough sun. It was originally grown in an aqua garden, so I don’t know if I shocked the plant. It still isn’t coming out of it though. Any ideas?

Maybe shock and also the soil, I would try something like fox farm’s ocean floor soil! It’s pretty inexpensive and retains water well but also drains well which I think would be good for it :) it’s on Amazon as well

I would cut off all the dead stuff and give it some time. It probably did get a shock from replanting but I think over time I should bounce back.

Replanting shortly after changing a plant’s environment is stressful for a plant. Repotting twice in a short period is more stressful. Going from water to soil is additional trauma. Mint is not the most sturdy potted plant to begin with. They thrive in full sun and act like weeds. They don’t like a lot of fuss or changes. It might recover if the roots are still viable.

The roots were great and very long.

They might recover. Give it lots of light. Let the soil almost dry out before watering again. I have potted mint outside that dies back each winter due to cold weather and regrows in spring.

Ya, I don’t think you can kill it that easily. It did likely stress tho. If it were my plant I would cut it back to about an inch and not water it for awhile and see if it grows back. Wait to see new growth and begin a watering regimen.

I agree 100% , repotting now would def shock the plant more . I would remove the dead parts and make sure it’s staying relatively moist and in direct sun. They love water and bright sunlight . Once it bounces back and is doing well, you could consider the repot! Since the roots are healthy I think you have a great chance of getting it back , good luck!!
