# Hey - so my boyfriend’s spider plant keeps having so many babies that…

Hey - so my boyfriend’s spider plant keeps having so many babies that our houses are overflowing with them! I find them so low maintenance and they survive so easily…but I brought one to work thinking it would be the same \& the leaves are going grey and closing up?! Any ideas why/advice?!

The faded color could be insufficient fertilizer, light or both.

The leaves fold close from insufficient water. They will open flat when watering is consistent. Spider babies can dehydrate while connected to the mother plant if the connection vine dries out.

Sometimes those cute little decorative pots don't have drainage so you might want to watch out for root rot as well.

Mine turn gray when they need water. Id say either underwatering or root rot.
